What is it and how it works?

This system allows to calculate the average speed of vehicles on roads or highways, by using fixed cameras performing automatic recognition of license plates (LPR or ANPR).

By knowing the distance between the cameras used, commonly 200 meters and 10 kilometers, and reading the license plates of all the vehicles, the system calculates the time it takes for a vehicle to get from camera 1 to camera 2, and thus obtains the average speed. In cases of multi-lane highways, the system contemplates and solves the problem of lane change in the path.

Scope of Technology

Neural Server allows the configuration of Section Control and the generation of a sanction proposal for vehicles that transit above the maximum speed for each section.

It allows each start or end of the section to be composed of multiple LPR cameras to cover 100% of all lanes of the highway. It is even possible to define a stretch end as the beginning of another, reusing the results of the same camera.

It is possible to use non-smart cameras with edge processing, or in case of having FO, it can be processed centrally in a datacenter by receiving live streaming.

Better still is to use LPR smart cameras such as NL Ghost from Neural Labs, which is specially designed for LPR and detect high-speed license plates covering up to two lanes.

The Neural Server Backoffice software generates the sanction proposals based on the license plates read in all the sections.

It allows operators to review proposals with the option to accept, reject and export each of the proposals to the ticket management system.
