Security and monitoring solutions for tunnels

Taking road safety measures is essential in tunnels. As they are enclosed spaces, an accident, like a fire and/or hazardous materials being spilled, can give rise to even more serious consequences than in open spaces.

More people can get involved directly in the incident or being potentially exposed to the dangers caused by heat, smoke, explosions, or toxic gases.

Furthermore, the tunnel itself can cause or worsen the effects of the accident.

For example, the lighting conditions (the “black hole” when somebody enters the tunnel), or the tunnel structure can worsen the impact of a collision or make it impossible to perform certain manoeuvres in case of an unforeseen event.

NEURAL LABS SOLUTIONS FOR TUNNELS

Neural Labs offers solutions that improve the traffic monitoring and tracking inside of a tunnel, paying special attention to those events that might make it dangerous to drive inside it.

NEURAL SERVER: DANGEROUS GOODS UNDER CONTROL

Neural Server detects both dangerous goods and license plates. That allows us to monitor and send a warning to the control center when a vehicle with dangerous goods enters the tunnel and notify if it doesn’t leave.

If a vehicle with dangerous doesn't leave the tunnel in the pre-defined time, the corresponding action and prevention plans will be activated. With Neural Server we can also detect the container code and associate it with the trucks’ license plate. This way, in case of accident, control center can verify with the authorities which goods are inside the container and if they are potentially hazardous.

NEURAL ORCHESTRATOR: AID

Neural Orchestrator can be used as an AID (Automatic Incident Detection) system with the tunnel’s cameras. If an incident is detected, Neural Orchestrator will send a warning to the control center, to activate the required actions to ensure the tunnel’s users safety. Incidents that can be detected in the tunnel:

• People, bicycles, and electric scooters inside of the tunnel.
• Stopped vehicle.
• Vehicle at anomalous speed according to the current average speed.
• Improper overtaking.
• Wrong turn inside of the tunnel.
• Fallen object.
