Success story: Vitacura municipality, Chile - License plate recognition implementation

THE CLIENT

Vitacura is one of the main Santiago de Chile´s city communes, with a 28,3km2 and a floating population of more than 160K citizens.

THE INTEGRATOR

THE SOLUTION

The "Dirección de Seguridad Ciudadana e Inspección" implemented on July 2018 an Integral Safety project based on the integration of all its technologies and services in a new Command and Control Centre. The objective was to improve the safety conditions of the neighbours.

All the data from their early isolation and security systems is interconnected and converges at the new Control Centre, using a C.A.D. (Computer Aided Design) system. Like this it provides concrete and real time information about the streets situation, improving the effectivity and response time when incidents happen.

It must be emphasized that a huge percentage of the offenses registred in Vitacura's commune are related with the vehicle use or theft, including "portonazos" (car theft with intimidation and violence at the owner's house door). Because of this the Municipality selected and implemented Neural Labs' License Plate Recognition (LPR) platform, in 10 access points to the commune and 18 video-surveillance cameras. The project was made with Huawei to capture de License Plates of vehicles circulating in the corresponding lanes.
